Work Place Recognition

As most of you know I have struggled with jobs over the last 7 months. The job I have is Director of Emergency Management. I love the job but cannot afford it. If that makes sense. The job is political and is often the target of criticism. So, when something good happens it kind of makes it worthwhile. I am by nature a humble person but I must share being recognized in Congress by Rep. Mike Pence. I received a nice letter and copy of the Congressional Record in which I was mentioned for my work in the recent severe weather and flooding. After some of the trials in my life lately, I am walking on the clouds today. I know its short lived but it keeps ya goin.

Take Heart

"I have told you these things, so you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart. I have overcome the world.

John 16:33

AMEM, AMEN, AMEN

Soon and very soon I will sing praises that will be heard in the heavens.

Right On

My hand is up. Pastor Ryan yesterday asked about people who worry about things of this world. I cant miss a church because God has been hammering me, and making or molding me more into his image. I will never be perfect, but God has changed me. From the series "Wait" to yesterdays message, it is amazing how each service God has found something in my life to work on.

Anyway I worry, fret and ring my hands over important and not so important things of this world. I had two stressful, controversial, and gut wrenching situation to deal with on Monday. I followed Ryan's message and rejoiced in my God and keep repeating or singing whatever song was on JOY FM. Needless to say God revealed Himself with what felt like the most loving hug. I had peace about the situation. I have a mentor who also helped me gain the peace with God's word(Thank you Doug). I want to thank Pastor Jeff who prayed with me also. Things aren't perfect with the situations, but I found the peace to deal with them. I think the song was "Today is the Day"

The Ups and Downs

As many of you know, I coach jr. high basketball at Monroe Central. Myself and the other jr. high coach was able to take the jr. high group to a camp in Ft. Wayne. We left Wednesday and returned Saturday morning. I had the joy of watching a group of boys not win one game. Now let me explain that statement. This group of guys are the not the starting group that plays during the school year. This group are the bench player that dont play much during the year. Anyway they went from losing games by 20-30 pts to losing to the best teams at the camp to losing 4-6 pt s to the same teams on the last day of camp. I really enjoy working with kids that improve not only basketball skills but life skills. That was the upside of week.

Then, while having breakfast with the boys on Saturday morning, as we are about to return home came the news. Sitting in the restaurant text messages started coming in about a horrible accident that happened north of Farmland. The accident involved two young men that I have coached a few years ago. Things looked very bleak for these guys. A prayer vigil was held at FFC on Saturday night. I heard that as the prayers were being lifted up to God the boys conditions started to improve. Continue to pray for these fellows and families. The downs and ups. God is great.

I Hope its a Happy Birthday

Today is Shanes birthday. We are unable to wish him a happy birthday. His cell phone is out of service..as is our home phone. Its kind of tough on Tammy and me not to be able to wish him a happy birthday. So I hope God will lay it on his heart that we are thinking of him.

All Things Considered not A Bad Day

Stayed home from work to take mother-in-law to eye dr. She had he son take her instead ........so I enjoyed day off. Helped Tammy watch Austin a 7month old she has been watching a couple a days a week (every little bit helps). Then at noon I get a text message from Aaron Black asking me to sub for him. The b-ball coaches have a team in the Monday evening golf league at Hickory. I shot a 60(yes for 9 holes..........lol). Went home and enjoyed a camp fire in backyard with Tammy and Eric. Eric caddied for me during golf and actually had some good tips.

I want to thank all those FFC'ers that have continued to pray for me and our family during our trying times.
